Hazardous Waste Exemptions

In some instances, a waste is not totally excluded from the CCR regulations, but is exempted from some of the hazardous waste requirements as long as certain management conditions are met. For example:

• Materials in product or raw material storage tanks are exempt until removed within 90 days of ceasing operation
• Samples are subject to regulation as a waste after use as a sample ceases
• Treatability study samples for generator and labs
• Controlled substances
