Detailed estimate: Project-specific

A project-specific contract requires a highly detailed estimate of the cost of the work. The CM, with the assistance of the functional manager and/or project manager, bases this estimate primarily on the hours necessary to complete every identified task for a project.

The CM works with the functional units to develop the estimate for the whole project by:

breaking the scope of work into its component tasks or milestones (WBS level 7 or lower)
estimating the hours of each task/milestone
applying the hourly rates plus other direct costs and fee (profit)
creating a summary sheet with a total estimated cost
